Unable to locate David Gildea in 1900 census. Also, he does not appear in the 1890 veteran census or any sources about Civil War soldiers. Note: There is a Michael Gildea who served in the 11th Regiment of the Maryland Infantry.

Gildea entries from Hans Grogaard and Mary Warfield, Burials in Pro-Cathedral and Cathedral Cemeteries (Westminster, MD: Heritage Books, Inc., 2004) 136. Note: This volume only lists people who were interred at the Cathedral Cemetery on Fremont Avenue. The Archdiocese acquired Bonnie Brae estate on Old Frederick Road in 1869 to establish what is now New Cathedral Cemetery. Burials were moved from the Fremont Avenue grounds to New Cathedral, although there are no records of the transfers. The Fremont Ave. cemetery was empty by 1887, and the land sold to developers.

Baltimore City College
The school was first opened in 1839, however, the current "castle" on the Alameda was built in 1928. The school has had several locations. Gildea likely worked on the structure that was built 1874-75, opening on February 1, 1875 on Howard St., opposite of Center Street. This building was replaced in 1896, with a new building on the same site.The address is currently 530 N. Howard.

Hebrew Orphan Asylum
The orphanage was organized in 1872 in the Baltimore Alms House. The property burned in 1874, but was rebuilt (no date given). The orphanage closed in 1923, and the building became part of the "West Baltimore General Hospital" in 1924. It later became the Lutheran Hospital, and closed its doors in 1989.

Male grammar school No. 1
According to the 1883 Report of the Board of School Commissioners of Public Schools of Baltimore, the school was built in 1880 on the NE corner of Fayette and Green Streets. (Note, this is on the other side of Fayette from Westminster Hall.) It is shown on the 1880 Sanborn as Public School No. 1.
The current address for the building is 520 W. Fayette St. It is owned by the University of Maryland and home of the State Bar Association.
