Description
"One Shot; One Stabbed." The Sun, 27 September 1913.
Excerpt: "A negro woman was shot and a negro man stabbed last night during a continuation of the troubles resulting from the stand taken by residents of the 1300 block Mosher street against a negro family which moved into a house in that block a few days ago.... To prevent further trouble in the 1300 block of Mosher street the white residents offered yesterday to pay all the expenses of moving, provided the negroes in 1324 would leave the neighborhood... The head of the household said he was willing to leave the vicinity, but when the matter was laid before his wife she declared: 'I am here to stay and have been advised to do so.'" Other properties in which African Americans reside also mentioned in the article.
