Annapolis and the National Government: Records and ReimbursementAttached are my research notes from my trip to NARA last week to look at the records of the Continental Congress. These records are all on microfilm publication M247 (finding aid available online through https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonline/start.swe?SWECmd=Login&SWEFullRefresh=1&TglPrtclRfrsh=1, enter M247)
My focus was on the financial activities of Congress relating to their time in Annapolis, and I was not able to find very much. I did find a few other nuggets, however. There is a collection of correspondence and resolutions by the General Assembly and the Annapolis city government offering to host Congress on a permanent basis. There is a significant amount of material that I haven't been through which is indexed alphabetically (by the big blue index volumes). Getting through this will require a great deal more time and effort.
I have discovered what should be an excellent source of information: the Treasury records from this period (in RG 217, Records of the Accounting Officers of the Dept. of the Treasury) and on film publication M1014 (Central Treasury Records of the Continental Congress). These records (particularly the second one) should be very helpful. My plan is to go back to NARA next week (they're open on the Wednesday and Friday of Thanksgiving when we're closed).
I have some scans of microfilm...is there a good place for me to upload them?
