Letter written to his sister Frances Ferrarini from Camp Devens, Massachusetts. He complains that he should have been home the previous Tuesday but was left out of the discharges by the office by mistake. He mentions that he has turned in all of his stuff, been examined as well as signed his discharge and other various papers. He feels that he has done well enough to expect a speedy appointment. He does ask Frances to ask his father to make "sougo."

He complains that Rob and Charlie have not written him even though they have his address. He was late returning on his last pass and that is why he hasn't been able to visit. Sends his regards to Mrs. Manchetti.

Description
Letter written to Frances and Elvira from Co. C 35 M. G. Ba., Camp Devens, Massachusetts. He mentions that the drilling is less than in Georgia, the officers are nicer, and the food wonderful; however, the Spanish Influenza is in the area. There are over three thousand cases of it at the hospital and the whole camp may be placed under quarantine. He also asks his sister if she can spare two dollars. From his reading of the papers, it looks as if the war should be over soon.

Letter written to Frances from Co. C. 35th M. G. Ba., Camp Devens, Massachusetts. He is happy to have his winter suit. They went on a 14 mile hike and slept in dog tents. It rained continuously from when they started until they returned. He wants Frances to mail his watch to him and is very specific about how she should accomplish the task. He also cautions her about her safety on her trip to Long Island. Sends his best wishes to Mrs. Marchetti and her baby.

He tells his sister that he knows the Massachusett's girl she mentioned. She lives in Hoboken. He met her four years ago at Scott's Farm in Plainsfield. He thinks it is a good idea to send Charlie five dollars. He sends his best wishes to Marietta and wonders if she's heard from Peter.

He's happy to hear that both Rob and Charlie have written Frances. He's sure they are stationed close together and aren't near the front. He's concerned that she hasn't heard about his insurance yet. He recommends that she check with Louis about it. He also tells Frances that he knows the girl she mentions. She is Richita's daughter. He won't be able to get home this week but will try for Saturday. He asks Frances to send him a book of stamps.

Letter written to Frances from Camp Devens, Massachusetts. He hasn't received the cigarettes yet. He really wants to come down this Saturday. The camp has been under quarantine for the last three weeks but they expect to lift it in a couple of days. His other problem is the fare. He asks Frances to send him five dollars. He hasn't heard from the girl. He had his picture taken and is sending her one. The picture was taken behind a Browning machine gun. Picture is not in the file.

There are rumors that the division is going to move out of Camp Devens. He doen't think it will affect him because he has a job as an instructor. He wants Frances to let Marietta know that he will come down the first chance he gets.

He thinks that Charlie is near the front; however, he still thinks the war will be over soon. He hasn't heard from Robbie or Charlie (brothers). He asks that Elvira send him cigarettes. It doesn't look good for getting a pass and he may just take "French" leave.

He has received the cigarettes and wants Elivira to send the case as soon as it is ready. He is hoping to go to Camp Merritt before they go over. He doesn't think they will see action because the war is almost over. He thinks he will be stuck abroad for a year or two; however, he thinks Charlie and Rob will be coming home. He doesn't want Frances to let Ione know he was down. He didn't go see her because he was sick.

Apparently, half the company overstayed their passes so the punishment was very light. He's going to be on his best behavior from now on.
